A Happy Birthday Rhyme

Happy Birthday to my loving husband – On this your 40th year
From the moment our eyes met – I was in love, it was quite clear
You’re an amazing husband, father and lover – But also have an amazing mind
Always engaged doing something – You truly are one of a kind!!

We have three wonderful children – And a dog who is pretty old
It’s been an incredible almost twelve years – Something you need to be told
You love poker and a good glass of wine – You enjoy a wonderful meal
At night it’s chocolate milk and cookies – My love for you I can’t conceal!!

While you’re still a young man – On this world you’ve made your mark
Being humble, simple and successful – You’re a great role model with a spark
You’re honest, warm and so down to earth – Which is one of the reasons why
I love you and wish you happy birthday – To, in my mind, the WORLD’S GREATEST GUY!!

Thank You Mrs. Favre!!

Thank You Mrs. Favre!!

Who are we trying to kid - When it comes to having Bret
It wasn’t just his decision – On that you can place a big bet
His daughter was cool – And kept her opinion on hold
Until that first day of school – When she let daddy be told!!

Then the stars went into alignment – And the Gods took over the ship
You said you were feeling good – Your passes still had some zip
You probably couldn’t do everything – That your mind might expect
But there’s nothing like Sunday football – It’s a game you totally respect!!

The Viking fans are in a frenzy – The number “4” is selling fast
The naysayers are also busy – Saying, “No way, your arm just won’t last
But I personally think them wrong – You’ve brought something only money can buy
Hope for an emerging franchise – Riding on the shoulders of one great guy!!

Each day the news gets better – Brett Favre will start the 2nd Exhibition game
He’ll only play a series or two – Afterwards everyone will exclaim
It’s the best thing that could happen – We’ve truly got a chance this year
When he takes to the field, just listen – It will be a roar, not a cheer!!

It’ll be fun to watch the “Cheeseheads” – When the Packers come to town
They’ll totally look befuddled – When Favre gets that big first down
Do we cheer or do we boo – They won’t know what to do
I’m thinking it won’t matter – By the time the Vikings get through!!

But back to my original thesis – Mrs. Favre, thank you for giving a nod
I know without your blessing – We’d still be waiting for that act of God
I don’t know what your thoughts were – But I’m glad it all worked out
History is in the making – Brett said, “My legacy is my own”, no doubt!!

Prayer for Fridley Lions Zone Meeting

Today, may there be peace within
May we trust in God as each day begins
May we not forget what faith can achieve
May we each pass on all the love we receive
May we be content knowing we’re children of God
May we accept God’s love and lose the façade
May we allow our soul the freedom to sing
And may each of us give thanks for the food that he brings!!
AMEN

Revised Toast For Alex's Party

Congratulations Alex!!
August 22.2009

I’d like to thank the Groomsmen – The bachelor party brought out the truth
Joe, Rob, Bill and Marcus – Along with Ed and Alex partied hard in Duluth
Bill Brama bought Alex some shots – The symbolism is hard to deny
They were red, green and orange in color – You are one lucky guy!!

The wedding has been cancelled – Believe me, I wouldn’t cry
We’re still having a great party – Damn, you’re one lucky guy
Just ask Uncle Neal or me if you will – What it feels like in a trap
That you can’t get out of – My God you’re one lucky chap!!

I know how your dad feels – Because we’re wired somewhat the same
He’s spending a lot of money – Doing the right thing isn’t a cause for shame
The champagne has been cancelled – But the D.J. is here
We’ve upgraded to steak – What the hell, it’s really a time to cheer!!

I’m truly happy for Stephanie – It’s a graduation party for her
She never liked old What’s her name – Who tonight is not a visitor
We’re not getting into personalities – But Stephie knew first
That our missing visitor was different – Alex, you could have been cursed!!

So Stephie, you go girl! – This party is also for you
I know Ed will feel much better – Knowing it’s a party for two
For Ed likes to get value – For every dollar he spends
So let’s all enjoy the evening – Right up until it ends!!

Alex, trust me my friend – This is a night to enjoy
You dodged one huge bullet – Vicious enough to destroy
Remember when one door closes – An open door suddenly appears
So keep your eyes open my friend – That next door could be near!!

Alex is a proud graduate of St. Cloud State – A very lucky guy
Cheryl & Ed paid for his education – It’s not cheap to learn to fly
Alex can lead you through the Atlas – Showing each and every country he’s seen
Believe me they are numerous – For Alex, the grass is always green!!

For those wanting a party – He’ll introduce you to “Alexander the Great”
Please, let’s hold our focus – It’s a drink he concocted to celebrate
When Alex was a very young lad – He spent 3 years riding a shoe
Most of us rode toy horses – Alex was different, this we all knew!!

Alex is shy and a cuddler – With a habit of just wandering away
As a little kid he had to be watched – He’s find the strangest places to play
Alex, you’ve still got Lexy your dog – Who now is the love of your life
And her love is so unconditional – Which is so much better than a lunatic wife!!

Alex, I want you to remember – You did absolutely nothing wrong
In fact I’ve been impressed – You’ve come through looking quite strong
You truly acted like a gentleman – And we’re all very proud of you
So let’s get on with the party – Alex, fun for you is way overdue!!

Cheryl and Ed, we thank you – I think everyone is having fun
It’s one big family reunion – And when all is said and done
We’ve all learned a big lesson – And I say this with a sigh
I don’t want to repeat myself – But damn Alex, you’re one lucky guy!!

Now that you have the picture – Let’s all raise our glasses high
A toast to our guest of honor, Alex – Who’s potential, could reach the sky
May all your days be reasonable happy – May most of your dreams come true
May you look back 50 years from now – And exclaim, “Who knew”??

This Bud's For You!!

Once again it took a beer – To heal the drama of our life
When things get out of whack – And the drama turns into strife
When cool heads are forgotten – And the principles turn to hate
If left to our own devices – The ending wouldn’t be so great!!

So let’s sit down with a beer – And what kind would you like my friend
A Budweiser light in a glass – A very good choice I would contend
I personally will have Summit Pale Ale – A heavier blend sits so nice
It’s costs a little more – But it tastes great for the price!!

We got off on the wrong foot – Whatever that’s suppose to mean
It means you cuffed me in my own house - That was not a pretty scene
When you kept calling me a racist – And I told you to please hold it down
But you chose to keep yelling – That cancelled out, the Professor of renown!!

I guess I should be grateful – That could have been a sneaking thief
It takes no time to hit and run – A professional leaves a person in disbelief
It just was hard to swallow – When standing in my own living room
I showed you identification – But it caused my head to fume!!

Wow this beer tastes good – We should do this again some time
Now that’s a great idea – We can talk about racism and crime
You know we could be friends – Would you like to address my class
Wouldn’t that be something – Yes I would, it’ll be a gas!!
